As part of Denver Public Schools’ strategic plan, the Denver Plan 2020, we have committed to five goals designed to close academic achievement gaps and prepare all students for success in college and careers. One of those goals is support for the Whole Child. DPS is leading the nation in focusing this level of effort and attention around the Whole Child supports because we know – and research shows – it will not only improve academic outcomes but is critical to achieving our vision that Every Child Succeeds.

Oakland Elementary and Whole Child Education

At Oakland, we are committed to changing the narrative at our school. Our school programming includes a focus on the whole child – including academic as well as socio-emotional needs. Our goal is that all our unique learners are able to actualize their potential and be ready for the next steps in their education. In addition to our rigorous academics, Oakland offers a variety of enrichment opportunities that support socio-emotional development and academic growth in our students.
